Family Fun!

This weekend I visited one of my families favorite places, the Jacksonville Arboretum. A beautifully secluded nature hiking trails in a beautiful and popular area in Jacksonville that is still close to almost everything. There are many subdivisions within a 3 mile radius to the arboretum making it extremely convent for early weekend walks to recharge in nature.

The Jacksonville Arboretum has 7 nature trails of varying difficulties. I will be honest my 5 and 3yr old have only been able to do the easier trails. That has not lessened the fun or enjoyment that we all have.
The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens is a 120-acre urban woodland full of trails for you to explore and enjoy. There is a beautiful two-acre lake, filled with lily pads, a variety of fish and turtles and if your lucky maybe an alligator (we haven't seen one yet, but we keep looking).
With informative signs and over 100 labeled plants that enhance the trails and create valuable educational moments with my kids to pause and talk about the different names of trees or fish they see in the lake. Plus there are, over three miles of rustic hiking trails that wind quietly through a series of distinct ecological habitats.

I love that at the beginning of the arboretum there is an information kiosk, with information on the different trails and nature you can expect to see. On our most recent visit there was a "I Spy" pamphlet where we had to spot the 15 different types of fauna, such a creative and fun activity. As we walked along the trails there are benches that invite you to pause and enjoy the view, hide some painted rocks, play "I Spy" or to get in a good stretch during a vigorous walk.

The Arboretum is developed and managed by the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, Inc., a non-profit entity that leases the land from the City. Except for special events, there is no admission fee. There is a $3 non-member visitor donation requested to help pay operations.

The Arboretum is open to the public 7 days a week from 8 AM to 5 PM, entry gates are locked promptly at closing so plan your visit so that you exit the Arboretum prior to closing. It is located at 1445 Millcoe Road Jacksonville FL 32225

So close to everything the Jacksonville arboretum is a amazing serene location to rest and recharge in nature. If you have any questions, about the arboretum or some of the available homes in that area, please send me a message I want to answer all your questions.
